For just under 10 dollars, the Bülow x750 is no doubt a cheap pen. For such a low price, the pen is not impressive but gets the job done. As far as I can tell, the Bülow x750 is the same as the Jinhao x750 although I have never owned the latter.
This international cartridge/converter pen has a friction-fit number six sized nib and plastic feed. Removing them is simple and easy and can make the cleaning process a breeze. Number 6 sized nibs are commonly available and because this one is friction fit, it can be swapped out with other nibs such as the Goulet nibs (no affiliation).
The x750 is mostly metal with a lacquer coating on the outside that is available in a variety of colours and patterns. The metal body of the pen makes it extremely rugged and can be banged around and dented quite a bit before it stops writing. The metal body also makes it heavy. Weighing in at 36 grams overall according to online pen retailer Gouletpens.com, the x750, while not as heavy as the Jinhao 159, is a heavy pen.
It's weight had not yet been an issue for me because of it's perfect balance. If the pen is posted, it becomes a bit back heavy and may not be usable depending on the size of your hands. The tapered resin section is comfortable enough for me to use the pen for hours despite it's weight. It feels like an extension of my hand.
The x750 comes with a cheap converter that isn't particularly well made. They can sometimes be missing a ball in them that helps to break surface tension and keep ink flowing. If this is a problem for you, international converters are easy to find and you shouldn't have any trouble replacing it.
Quality consistency in these pens is not good. I have five of them and they all varied greatly in performance. Some wrote well while others were impossibly scratchy and dry. I have since adjusted them to my liking and have experienced no further problems. These can be very hit and miss so be careful.
If you do decide to get a Bülow x759 fountain pen, you should be prepared to change the converter and either tune or replace the nib. If these are not things you are willing to do and you would like a pen that is perfect out of the gate, you should close this review, exit the browser, and shut down your computer. But, if you are still reading this, and decide to buy this pen, you will be rewarded with a comfortable and durable addition to your collection that can be thrown in a bag and used for hours at a time comfortably.
